Description
Enteric Coated Rabeprazole Sodium & Sustained Release Levosulpiride Capsules
Category: Gastrointestinal Medication (Proton Pump Inhibitor & Prokinetic Agent)
Product Description:
This combination of Enteric Coated Rabeprazole Sodium and Sustained Release Levosulpiride capsules is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, and functional dyspepsia. It combines the acid-suppressing effects of Rabeprazole with the prokinetic action of Levosulpiride, ensuring both symptom relief and the prevention of further complications related to gastric acidity.
Composition:
- Rabeprazole Sodium (20 mg, Enteric Coated): A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses the secretion of gastric acid by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, thereby reducing acidity and promoting healing of ulcers and esophageal damage.
- Levosulpiride (75 mg, Sustained Release): A prokinetic agent that enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing acetylcholine release, improving gastric emptying and reducing symptoms like bloating, nausea, and reflux.
Indications:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Acid reflux
- Functional dyspepsia (indigestion)
- Peptic ulcers (gastric and duodenal)
- Non-ulcer dyspepsia
Key Features:
- Dual action: Rabeprazole reduces stomach acid production, while Levosulpiride improves stomach motility and reduces symptoms of reflux and indigestion.
- Enteric Coated Formulation: Ensures that Rabeprazole is released in the intestines rather than the stomach, preventing acid degradation and maximizing its efficacy.
- Sustained Release Levosulpiride: Provides prolonged relief by gradually releasing the prokinetic agent, improving gastrointestinal function throughout the day.
- Effective in the treatment of both acid-related disorders and functional gastrointestinal motility issues.
Dosage:
- Typical dosage: One capsule daily, or as prescribed by the physician.
- Dosage may vary based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment.
Precautions:
- Not recommended for use in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.
- Caution is advised in patients with Parkinson’s disease or those taking dopamine antagonists.
- Prolonged use of PPIs like Rabeprazole may increase the risk of bone fractures, low magnesium levels, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
- Regular monitoring is advised if used long-term.
Side Effects:
- Common: Headache, diarrhea, nausea, constipation
- Rare: Hypomagnesemia, allergic reactions, extrapyramidal symptoms (with Levosulpiride)
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole, Levosulpiride, or other PPIs.
- Patients with prolactin-dependent tumors (due to Levosulpiride’s dopamine antagonist effect).
Storage:
